Pierre-Yves PASCAL is Assistant Professor at the Université des Antilles in Guadeloupe (French West Indies). He is a marine ecologist and his research is mainly focused on meiofauna, a group of sediment dwelling invertebrates defined by their size (between 50 and 500 µm). His research principally evaluates the role of benthic bacteria, microalgae and dinoflagellate in the diet of meiofauna (nematode, copepod and foraminifera). He adapted methods set up to evaluate those fluxes to estimate the trophic role of meiofauna for larger organisms such as fish and macrofauna (sea-urchins during PROTEKER program).
